Governors' Discretionary Fund
A fund exists within school to support children who might otherwise be
unable to take part in trips and visits. There are strict regulations
surrounding the whole area of trips and visits and in the past problems have
arisen when the cost of a trip cannot be met through voluntary contributions
from parents and carers. In this case, or in the case of a family unable to
meet the cost of such a trip, the headteacher can approach the governors and
request that they release money from this fund to allow the trip to go ahead
or for an individual child to be included.
Money is put into the Governor’s Discretionary Fund through donations from
individuals and through the Elm School Association, who donate 10% of all
their profits. There is not a huge amount of money available, but so far the
governors have been able to respond favourably to all requests.
If you feel that you would qualify for a degree of support from this fund,
please contact either Mrs. F. McCallum (Head Teacher) or Mr. P. Rhodes (Chairman of the Governing
Body) in complete confidence and they will take your request.
